"1858 Pietta Remington Army Target .44 cal. Pistol"

Review: My first time buying an already assembled gun. I usually build from kits so I have a chance to go over fit and finish, massage any metal parts to insure least ffriction, for least wear. I then carve the stock or grips, see to a hood finish...the point of all this is...I know what I'm looking at,know if its working proper...I must say that I'm VERY impressed with this pistol. I did actually want a slightly different model, just different in finish...but this pistol is Definately something you'd want to pass down. The fit is perfect, the only way to describe it...finish of,both steel and wood, also. Cylinder release is smooth nno bind points anywhere. I will also be using a .45 cal. Long Colt Cowboy load conversion cylinder...I wouldn't go through that expense if I didn't think this pistol were up to grade. Well Done Pietta...And EMF for carrying great products!

Review: So in March EMF ran a special on the target 1858's and the deal was so good, and I was so impressed with my first target 1858 that I had to take them up on it. They called with a day of the order with the bad news that demand had outstripped their update of the web site and the pistol was still available on back order. Months later EMF phones me with a you are on the list for one do you want it now? Well in the meantime everyone's price was 100 dollars more than my back order...easy answer heck yes at the back order price! They gladly honored that. Within days the pistol now resides on my work bench. Everything fits, caps fire flawlessly, fit and finish was far superior than anyone has the right to expect at the price I paid. I have my first target fit with a 45 acp Kirst Pale Rider cylinder, worked over the trigger a bit, and put a nice target crown on the muzzle. It is an awesome paper puncher. This one will be in 45 Colt. Both pistols are so beautiful I cannot bring myself to gate them. I have a thirds 1858, (Sheriff) from EMF as well, and it is also fit with a 45 acp cylinder. That one may get gated ad may also get a 45 colt cylinder as well. Now if I could only get a stainless Target 1858, and maybe have it in .36 so I can build a nice bullseye gun for my wife....

Review: While not appearing historically correct with the adjustable target sights the gun is very good looking and well finished. It shoots very well. It is the most accurate of my black powder revolvers and is my favorite.

Review: 1858 Target Model came packed in grease. No corrosion issues out of the box, finish looks great and no function issues. Cylinder lock up is tight - tighter than some of my Rugers. The fit is above average but not stellar. No sharp edges except on the knurling of the loading lever latch. Front sight post is well aligned at the 12 O'clock position - not canted. I have seen better fitted grips, but there are no high points - perfectly fine for the price point. EMF had great customer service.

Review: My pietta 1858 arrived promptly. After unboxing and degreasing firearm, I checked action. Every thing was exactly what I wanted. The rear sight adjusted as low as possible. Gun shooting 5 inches high at 30 yards. I have one extra cylinder and have fired gun 82 times now. Flawlessly with 25 gr. 777 .454 rb on lubed wad. Number 10 caps.

Review: Outstanding firearm. Fit and finish were way above the price point. Getting tight groups at 25 yards out of the box using 35 grains of fffg triple 7 and hornady .451 round balls. I like my colt models but i live this Remington.
